Ujire: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Polytechnic, Ujire was established in the year 2008 by paramapujya Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade with a vision to provide quality education to post-matriculate masses in order to enhance their potential for better placement in industry and business.
The institution offers three-year Diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Polytechnic is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Bengaluru and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi.
Infrastructure:
The Institute is situated in a huge green campus alongside Ujire - Dharmasthala Main Road, near Siddhavana. The institution has well equipped laboratories and workshops in the various departments. Each laboratory is updated every year with new equipment and computers. The institution has a good library and reading room for the benefit of the staff and students.
Academics:
The academic in the institute is run by four diploma engineering departments, one basic sciences department and one supporting office. The college has well-qualified and committed group of faculty members who conduct sessions in the interactive manner. Practical classes focus more on encouraging the students to think independently and creativity.
SDM Polytechnic is known for discipline and its excellent diploma results. Large number of students appear as distinction holders in the board examinations every semester. Outgoing batches have registered 100% result.
The college provides number of avenues for students to continue learning beyond the classrooms. Bosch Training Center and various workshop rooms are situated within the campus, and they provide various opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience about the current industrial trends. Workshops by industrial experts, industrial visits, implant training and internship programmes are organized frequently to provide maximum industrial exposure.
Placement:
The Institute has Training, Placement, Innovation and Entrepreneurship development wings to take care of overall improvement of students. Students of SDM Polytechnic are provided with campus placement opportunities in the college and also in the pool campus selections across Mangaluru region. All job seekers have been placed in various companies over the years. Placement training programmes, communication classes, career guidance programmes, mini project and hobby club activities are conducted regularly at the institution to increase the employability of the students.

Eligibility to join:
· Should have passed SSLC.
· Should have studied in Karnataka at least for 5 years or else Eligibility Certificate is to be obtained from DTE, Bangalore.
· ITI (2 years trade) / II PUC (Science) passed students are directly admitted to the II Year of Diploma as lateral entry.
Future Scope:
The students with diploma certificate will have: -
· Eligibility for being employed as Technician/Supervisor.
· Required skill for self-employment.
· Privilege of lateral entry to II year of BE if opting for higher education.
· Opportunity to join a job on the basis of diploma and simultaneously pursue BE from any evening college of engineering.
