A workshop ‘An Overview of Interpretation of Statutes and Principles of Legislation’ was held at SDM Law College, Mangaluru, on January 3.

The programme was organised for the final year students of the college.

Professor of Law and Head of Academics at Rajiv Gandhi College of Law, Bengaluru K. Shivaprasad was the resource person.

He explained the fundamental concepts of interpretation and construction of statutes.

He clarified that interpretation is a judicial process aimed at discerning the intent and will of the legislature as embedded in the text of the law.

Principal and Chairman of the SDM Law College Dr. Tharanatha presided over the programme.

Faculty Convenor of Seminar and Conference Committee Dr. Annapoorna Shet was present.
